About Us

In 1967, K Valley Orthopedics, P.C., was formed and resided in the Borgess Professional Building North.

In March of 1987, K Valley Orthopedics, P.C. merged with Southwestern Michigan Sportsmedicine Clinic (Dr. Nelson's practice). Both practices performed their respective medical care in two locations until October of 1992.

In October, 1992, K Valley and Sportsmedicine moved and consolidated their practices into the current location of 315 Turwill Lane, Kalamazoo MI 49006.

KVO/SMC offers a complete range of orthopedic medical care to include: medical evaluation and treatment, on site x-rays, on site physical therapy staffed with licensed physical therapists and masters prepared certified athletic trainers, orthopedic surgical intervention, and research into various orthopedic conditions and injuries.

KVO/SMC'S medical staffs (currently nine (9) orthopedic surgeons) are all board certified or board eligible. In addition, some physicians are fellowship trained (additional education and experience following residency in specific areas of orthopedics):

KVO currently visits 24 area high schools with a staff trainer or coordinate and administer the provision of eleven (11) graduate athletic trainers through WMU's graduate assistant program. KVO also provides for pre-participation physicals for most area high schools.
